Juan’s Story
Juan was born in Puerto Rico and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He came to Hired in August of this year and faced unemployment, lack of social support, lack of transportation, homelessness, and mental health concerns, as well as being a previous offender and a young father. Upon enrollment, Juan and his counselor reviewed his resume and he applied for a few jobs. His counselor was able to immediately assist with some funding to meet his needs for clothing and transportation. Through partnership, Juan was also able to connect with Youthlink to assist with his housing needs. Currently, Juan is in a safe space, working towards finding a more permanent place he can call home. Juan is working full-time as a customer service representative, and he has been preparing to take his GED test and started saving for a vehicle.
