Luxury’s Story: Dreams and Goals

“I just want to start off by thanking Hired for all the support and opportunities they’ve given me over the years. Most importantly I also want to thank Laneka for believing in me; I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn't for your support and advice in life.

I’ve been involved with Hired since I became a mother at the age of 16. During the time I was getting support services from Hired, I met Laneka through a mentorship program while staying in a group home, I didn’t have much support from family and I was a young mother. The bond Laneka and I have I truly value to this day. She supported me with connecting me to resources for jobs, school, parenting, mental health, etc. most importantly she listened to my problems and helped with solutions.

My life and mindset wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for Hired. Hired offered me opportunities that benefited my educational and career goals. I am currently doing an internship as an assistant office administrator for a small business through Hired. I’m so grateful for this opportunity. It is helping me learn hands on day to day administration as well as learn how to do advertising and marketing which has given be a better blueprint of how I need to operate a successful business. 

If I could give advice to the youth coming up, never allow life challenges deter you from your dreams and goals.  Be vocal about your goals, ask for help and remain consistent. I truly believe in the programs Hired has to offer and look forward to even more great things to come!”
