HIRED Provides Perspective on Slowly Improving Job Market
HIRED counselor Joe Sechovec and client Eric Rehm were interviewed by Channel 12 television for a December 9 story on the slowly improving job market. Rehm completed green energy training at HIRED and after eight months of unemployment will soon be starting a job with the State of Minnesota, managing an energy savings project. Renewable energy is a growing field, as is medical device manufacturing. Construction jobs were also up in October for the first time since spring 2006. View the article and video »

HIRED and C.H. Robinson Celebrate

Representatives from HIRED and C.H. Robinson Worldwide recently gathered at the company’s Eden Prairie headquarters to recognize two special accomplishments. First, HIRED assisted a record-breaking 12,571 job seekers last fiscal year. And for a second year in a row C.H. Robinson Worldwide was named the number one third-party logistics provider in FORTUNE magazine’s annual “World’s Most Admired Companies” report.
With much to celebrate, pictured from left to right are: HIRED executive director Jane Samargia, Heather Barnes, Julie Barkley-Hoffer, Kristi Nichols (all from C.H. Robinson Worldwide) and HIRED division director Nancy James. Not pictured is Leah Oye from C.H. Robinson, who serves on HIRED’s Employer Advisory Board.
The C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation has provided HIRED with an annual operating grant for each of the past two years, allowing us to provide more job seekers with innovative employment and training services.

Securian Foundation Celebrates Recent Grant to HIRED
Lori Koutsky of the Securian Foundation (center, in green) recently met with staff and program participants to celebrate the foundation’s grant of $6,000 to HIRED.
While visiting with job seekers enrolled in HIRED’s STEP program, Koutsky shared information about Securian Financial Group, her personal career path and tips for a successful job search. St. Paul-based Securian is a long-time donor to HIRED, and one of America’s largest providers of financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, retirement plans and investments.
STEP is a 10-week program that provides job placement services to participants in Ramsey County’s Minnesota Family Investment Program. STEP partners with a broad range of employers to develop paid and unpaid “internships” in a variety of occupations in the Ramsey County area.
