Your Dollars Go Further – Today Only – with GiveMN
This Tuesday, November 17, GiveMN is sponsoring a “Give to the Max” day, in which nonprofits like HIRED will receive a portion of a $500,000 match for every donation made to the organization through the GiveMN website. GiveMN, which launched its website earlier this month, was formed to usher in a new era in online giving and philanthropy.
Erin Loavenbruck, director of development and communications at HIRED, said, “A challenge like this – to raise as much money as possible on a single day for Minnesota nonprofits – has a lot of power. Donors across the state have the opportunity to contribute toward a cause of their choice, while seeing that their dollars are stretched even further through the matching fund.”
An initiative of several area foundations, GiveMN aspires to build a strong network of donors through online tools and social networking sites, allowing users to easily connect with – and donate to – the charities of their choice. The site includes more than 37,000 area nonprofits, including HIRED.
Loavenbruck continued, “A gift of any amount has the potential to make a tremendous impact at HIRED. With just a few dollars, a client is afforded a bus pass to make sure he or she will get to their next interview, and with a more substantial gift, a client will have the opportunity to take part in a paid internship, gaining invaluable work experience.”
Go to GiveMN.org and donate to HIRED before 8 p.m. and your gift will be matched! All transaction costs are covered during “Give to the Max” day, so contribute today.

Making Sure Everyone Has Reason to Celebrate
HIRED understands that when money is tight, the holidays can be very, very difficult ... particularly for families with children. This holiday season, HIRED’s Brooklyn Park MFIP office has teamed up with St. Joseph the Worker – a church in Maple Grove – to see that HIRED clients and their children have reason to celebrate. Thanksgiving baskets, complete with all of the fixings for a turkey dinner, will be delivered to families in need of a hot, home-cooked meal. A similar partnership has been established to help families on Christmas. In addition to providing a Christmas dinner, donors will provide gifts for each member of the family.
Deborah Santana, a program analyst for HIRED and coordinator of the initiative, said, “Our clients are very grateful for this program. Many people don’t realize what a difference some of these simple gifts can make in the lives of our clients: a healthy meal or household items such as bedding or towels help these families get through their day. Our partnership with St. Joseph the Worker has grown over the years and we are looking forward to helping more families this holiday season.”
