HIRED Awarded Three New Dislocated Worker Contracts
HIRED's exceptional reputation as a provider of dislocated worker services has resulted in three new contracts.
Beginning this month, HIRED will provide one-to-one counseling to recently laid-off workers from Cummins Power Generation in Fridley; Celestica in Arden Hills; and North Memorial, Park Nicollet and Hennepin County Medical Center.
The new contracts continue HIRED's history of providing assistance to workers in multiple sectors, from the service industry to health care to manufacturing. All told, the three new projects will serve more than 250 people.
HIRED once again demonstrated its commitment to responsiveness and action, quickly moving to set up enrollment and orientation programs for the new contracts. In the case of Cummins Power Generation, the programs were up and running only one day after the contract was awarded.
Other projects where HIRED provides dislocated worker services include Andersen Windows, Champion Air, CitiFinancial, ConAgra, Ford, GMAC, Golf Galaxy and Rockwell Automation.
HIRED dislocated worker services include broad job-search assistance, one-to-one resume counseling, interview preparation, and other training and education to help clients find appropriate and meaningful work.
For more information about the Cummins or North Memorial projects, contact Ken Roberts at 612-302-8507 or by e-mail. To learn more about Celestica, contact Carol Aharoni at 651-999-5655 or by e-mail. |

HIRED Helps Client Win Holiday Gift
For HIRED client Monica, the holiday season brought an unexpected surprise from an unexpected source.
Monica, a client with HIRED's STEP program, had recently moved into a new apartment with her two young children and their father, and was trying to find a way to furnish it. At the same time, HIRED's Griggs Midway location – home to the STEP program – was participating in a holiday prize contest run by its building management company. Progressive Management Investments, Inc. (PMI) invited each social service agency in the building to submit client names for a chance to win a special holiday gift.
The result? Monica was chosen and awarded a gift basket that included a new comforter, new sheets, children's books, toys and games, socks, pajamas, cooking supplies and other household goods. "It was absolutely what she needed, at absolutely the right time," said Mona Przyborowski, HIRED Business Development Coordinator. "We're always trying to find innovative ways to meet our clients' needs, and while this is a bit unconventional, it accomplished our goal... to give Monica the things she needs to establish a comfortable home."
Monica, who had just completed a six-week paid internship as a receptionist through HIRED, is currently enrolled in a nine-month training program for administrative office professionals.
STEP (Specialized Training and Experience Program) is a 10-week Ramsey County program that provides job placement services to Ramsey County MFIP participants. For more information, contact John Klem, program manager, at 651-999-5670 or by e-mail. |
