First
Jobs Summit a Wild Success!
On
May 15, HIRED held its first annual Jobs Summit Fundraising Breakfast
at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Approximately
200 people attended the event, and more than $70,000 dollars were
pledged, bringing the total dollars pledged in the current year to
approximately $215,000.
Along
with raising dollars, HIRED added additional members to its Work
Solutions Society, a giving club featuring a five-year pledge to
financially support HIRED’s mission. There are currently 16
members of the society, and nearly 20 more contributors who committed
to more than one year of support following the Jobs Summit program.
In
addition to the Jobs Summit program for friends and partners, HIRED
staff participated in the HIRED Gives campaign, pledging more than
$24,000 — a staggering display of generosity and commitment.
HIRED
Executive Director Jane Samargia is thrilled with the success of
both HIRED Gives and the Jobs Summit event. “The generosity
of our staff, our board, and our many, many friends is truly amazing.
The success of the Jobs Summit program is a testament to the
impact HIRED’s services have in the lives of everyday Twin
Cities residents. It says that there is an understanding of the
need for stable employment.”
The
Jobs Summit Fundraising Breakfast was made possible by event sponsors
Robert Half International, Bernstein Global Wealth Management, J.J.
Taylor Distributing Company of Minnesota, Wells Fargo and Village
Automotive Group.

HIRED
and CAPSH — Working Together
(From
left to right: Judy Swanson, Richard Zierdt, Andrea Johnson)
HIRED
and CAPSH – the Community Action Partnership of Suburban Hennepin
– have worked as partners since 2004 to provide education,
skill development and employment counseling to clients in suburban
Hennepin County seeking to either enter or reenter the workforce.
Based
in the CAPSH offices in Hopkins, HIRED assists job seekers in becoming
qualified for and obtaining stable employment. Offering full-time
employment counseling and a variety of print and electronic job resources, HIRED
makes available a wide array of employment services, from individualized
manufacturing career planning to education, on-the-job training and support
services.
Judy
Swanson, the HIRED project manager who works with the M-Powered program
and anchors the CAPSH office, said, “Our partnership
with CAPSH allows us to serve suburban Hennepin County residents
who are looking to take the next step toward stable employment.
Acting as CAPSH’s on-site employment resource, we’re
able to assist approximately 400 unemployed individuals each year…
individuals who need our help, and who desperately want to improve
their employment situation.”
Swanson
also noted the value of partnering with CAPSH. “CAPSH is a
fantastic organization, and the fact that they’ve chosen HIRED
to provide their employment services is a real honor. [CAPSH Executive
Director] Richard Zierdt’s commitment to making all of suburban
Hennepin County a better place to live and work matches HIRED’s
commitment, and together we feel we’re doing great things
for area residents.”
