Thank you 2009 Jobs Summit sponsors!

On May 14, HIRED held its second-annual Jobs Summit Fundraising Breakfast at theDoubletree Hotel Minneapolis–Park Place in St. Louis Park Minnesota. Each year HIRED uses the Jobs Summit event to boast about its accomplishments and humbly ask for financial support to sustain its mission. Before a packed ballroom of nearly 200 attendees, the Jobs Summit program featured the emotional stories of a handful of HIRED clients, an address from Executive Director Jane Samargia, an exclusive performance from local musician and Honeydogs' lead singer/songwriter Adam Levy, and an account from Philomena Morrissey Satre, an employee of Wells Fargo and member of HIRED's Employer Advisory Board.
The purpose of the Jobs Summit – HIRED's premier show-and-tell event – is two-fold: introduce Twin Cities residents to HIRED's life-changing mission and some of the people who have benefited from HIRED's services and collect funds to support the organization's day-to-day work.
Executive Director Jane Samargia said, "This year's Summit was another great success and we are incredibly thankful for the support that we've received. I said this at the event, and I'll say it again, we're thinking strategically about the future of Minnesota's employment landscape and the financial contributions we have received will help us continue to do our job with the same optimism, knowing that we are prepared to meet the challenges ahead."
In total, the one-hour morning event resulted in more than $40,000 being pledged to HIRED's mission. Equally important, five new people joined the Work Solutions Society – a group of individuals and families that have committed to helping build a foundation of sustainable funding for HIRED's programs and services. Joining the Work Solutions Society this year were: Eric and Caroline Chambers, Peter and Anne Heegaard, Adam and Erin Loavenbruck, Peggy Metzer-Chiesl, and Anne Sweet and Wayne Huls.
Remarks from attendees were very positive. Most cited the performance by Adam Levy and the personal account of Quwatel Brothers, a 21-year-old HIRED client who – with her daughter – was homeless, without hope and struggling to make ends meet, as their favorite portions of the program.
Samargia continued, "Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who attended and helped us make Jobs Summit a success. From the corporate sponsors to the clients who battled their nerves to share their stories to the generous individuals who pledged their financial support – Jobs Summit was a success because of you."
