Job Seeker Advocacy
HIRED advocates for Minnesota’s disadvantaged job seekers at public forums, at the state legislature, and through the media. During general elections, HIRED provides nonpartisan voter education and registration. Through our work with thousands of people of color annually, we advocate for equality in employment. Our programs are designed to reduce racial disparities.
Current Advocacy Priorities
Current priorities for advocacy and policy work include:
- Development of federal and state comprehensive policies for preparing our workforce
- Government action to support federal and state policies with adequate funding for implementation and sustainability
- Expansion of career pathways programs for low-income adults who need extensive remedial preparation prior to work or skills training
- Access to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training funds through a well-coordinated Minnesota program in partnership with local organizations
