Position Title: Employment Counselor - Ramsey County MFIP Program
Location: St. Paul
Reports to: Program Manager or Senior Program Manager
Position Summary: Works one-on-one with participants on MFIP to identify best path to self-sufficiency, while meeting all critical performance goals.

- Enrollment / Assesment:
- Conduct comprehensive formal and informal assessments
- Evaluate participant’s physical, social, vocational and educational situation
- Administer self screening tools for special learning needs, mental health and chemical dependency
- Determine participant’s barriers to employment

- Plan Development:
- Establish appropriate employment goals with each participant
- Monitor progress towards employment goals
- Determine estimated length of time it will take participant to achieve each goal and obtain suitable employment
- Identify possible career areas with each participant, based on results of assessment(s)
- Develop employment plans with each participant
- Revise employment plans to reflect change in activity, as needed

- Case Management:
- Provide job search and placement assistance to participants seeking employment
- Assist participants in overcoming barriers to employment
- Monitor participant progress on a weekly and monthly basis
- Collect, follow-up and verify activity documentation
- Track activity hours on a monthly basis
- Provide support services to participants
- Make referrals to appropriate community resources
- Maintain organized and updated case files for all participants
- Utilize all required databases (TEAMS, WorkForce One and ICIS) and maintain updated records in each system
- Enter detailed, appropriate case notes in a timely manner

Education, Experience:
College degree, preferably in a social work or counseling field -OR- 2 years of college plus 2 years directly related experience.
Physical Requirements:
No special requirements.
Working Conditions: Typical office conditions, must pass a criminal background check.
Salary Range: $14.10/hour – $18.80/hour
Salary Grade: Operations 1
FLSA status: Nonexempt
