HIRED is one of the most respected workforce development organizations in the Minneapolis- St. Paul metropolitan area. Founded in 1968, HIRED's mission is to provide personalized and innovative work solutions. Through a wide range of programs located in communities and neighborhoods throughout the metropolitan area, we help disadvantaged people and other job seekers prepare for and obtain employment.
- Each year we enroll more than 8,000 people in upwards of 70 programs designed to provide direct job and skill development assistance to low-income adults, dislocated workers, people making the welfare-to-work transition, recent immigrants and youth. Through our Employer Services Division, HIRED provides customized recruitment and retention services for hundreds of employers.
- The HIRED staff of approximately 135 includes more than 100 professional employment counselors, trainers and job developers. Job placement rates and average wages for job seekers in our programs consistently meet or exceed the goals established by our program funding partners. These partners include city, county and state governments, as well as a wide range of corporations and foundations. Our neighborhood-based, full-service offices have resource centers that include computers with Internet access and a variety of print and electronic resources to help our clients explore job openings, training information and labor market information. We also operate partnership program sites to serve specific client groups or geographic areas.
- HIRED was originally founded to assist ex-offenders in finding employment and avoiding recidivism. The mission was expanded in 1976 to include assisting disadvantaged and other job seekers to become qualified for and obtain employment. In the years since, we have added a wide range of programs to serve people from all walks of life: youth and adults, low-skilled and highly-skilled dislocated workers, urban and suburban. In recent years we've also strengthened our collaboration with employers to ensure that our programs are helping prepare workers with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the needs of businesses today and into the future.
