Public Policy

Group in manufacturing plantHIRED advocates for Minnesota’s disadvantaged job seekers at public forums, at the state legislature, and through the media. HIRED clients are often invited to speak to public officials about their experiences in the organization’s life-changing programs.

As of August 2012, two issues with great potential to impact HIRED’s efforts to reduce poverty are garnering large-scale media attention:  welfare reform››, and reductions in federal spending for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program›› (formerly known as “food stamps”).  HIRED’s policy positions on these issues are available by following the designated links above.
