HIRED staff members also described the organization’s services for unemployed adults, youth, dislocated workers and families transitioning from public assistance.  Founder Peter Heegaard established the program with this goal:  “The program seeks to make urban issues understandable and to find benchmarks to measure programs that reduce poverty, revitalize neighborhoods, improve schools and build employment.”   HIRED has been a part of the Urban Adventure curriculum for 14 years.
